Drafting a SIP for BabelFish

To answer your question “Why the preferential treatment for BCW”:
Financial stability. Also, I would not call it preferential treatment, just normal business strategy (like don’t put all your eggs in one basket)

SOV != BabelFish. Holding and staking SOV long term does not mean by automatic that you will be holding FISH for a longer time and by giving BCW (other entity than SOV stakers) a separate sale will give a more diverse pre-sale as BCW is not exclusively a Sovryn investor and they have a good track record of investments in other projects. I see this like any other investment rounds in stocks/tokens, where you want a solid investor that you can count on, and in this case, BCW is that investor and SOV community has gotten trust as well since they are included in this pre sale.

This is becoming $CantillonFish

I’m not taking away from BCW, which I’ve heard is a great group, but…

BCW:

  • A paid group which openly focuses on seeking pure profit and nothing else.
  • Has now blocked new members from joining their group (even if new members are willing to pay).
  • But now wants exclusive priority access to a project whose core ethos is providing open financial freedom and self sovereignty?

Wow, how cool.

I don’t want Sovryn’s to be hypocritical either. So, I propose priority should be something that we can all opt-in to. Staking SOV at a minimum is the most viable and obvious solution. Anyone can do it and it’s a show of your commitment to the project.

Isn’t it up to BabelFish to decide how they conduct their launch and who they give exclusive deals to? Sovryn is a platform/a Financial Operating System. It provides the tools and frameworks that projects build on top and decide how to use those tools! Sovryn stakers earn from the fees generated by the platform.

How is this any different from the Sovryn governance holders approving SIP’s with our voting power. This goes both ways.

I can see some still dont get it so i’m quoting Chainedwolf’s reply here

I do not understand the complaints from some Sovryn community members. The way I see it Sovryn is a decentralised platform that Babel Fish is using to launch on. Babel Fish as the project that wants to use the Sovryn platform is free to choose how they want to conduct the launch. If they make a deal with a group or individual to get first pick in a sale it is their choice. If they’ve made a deal with BCW then they’ve done that in their interest but we’re not privy to that. They should be commended for making it public how the sale will be conducted. They’ve probably already received funds from seed rounds - were Sovryn community involved in this? Of course not! The main thing here is that Sov is having the first project launching on the platform, which is huge and validates what the team is doing!!

I don’t see It that way, and I think we can agree to disagree at this point. When the finalized SIP comes we will all cast our votes.

We are voting for a project to list on Sovrn platform. The project has made public how they will conduct their sale. And they have included a deal for SOV stakers and BCW. They could have chosen to perform their sale with BCW in a private manner but they want it all to take place on Sovryn platform.
Projects in the future may choose to keep it all private if this entitlement continues.

  • A paid group which openly focuses on seeking pure profit and nothing else.

Almost every single person investing (in crypto or otherwise) has an agenda for profit. The difference is in HOW you make your profit. Investing in projects you believe in long-term benefits both the project and the investor.

  • Has now blocked new members from joining their group (even if new members are willing to pay).

This has nothing to do with anything $FISH

  • But now wants exclusive priority access to a project whose core ethos is providing open financial freedom and self sovereignty?

Not to be a jerk but I don’t think BCW came in and demanded exclusive priority and BabelFish didn’t have any say in it. And since you suggest Staking SOV should be a minimum then you should ask yourself why SOV holders should have any priority at all over non-sov holders? Because FISH is launched on Sovryn? Does “finanical freedom and self sovereignty” mean your free as long as you stake SOV?

I was exactly thinking the same. If you look at it in a very simple way $FISH has nothing to do with SOV (or any of the holders / stakers) except for that they want to use the platform for the launch.

So we turning into mud slinging now… throwing across such accusation with total disregard to actual facts?

Count me out

i just have to add this…

You saying BCW is

  • a paid group which openly focuses on seeking pureprofit and nothing else

… simply goes to show how little you know about BCW; so you Brother, are not qualified to judge

I said it before. It is their right to sell to who they want.In any order they want.Let them go to Binance and tell their story. That they want to use the platform BUT they have their own rules and they want to give privileges to some private group, and see what happens. If you want something you ask, you don’t demand! Anyway thats my opinion.Anyone who votes, votes according to what he feels right.I believe we should vote NO.

Nope.BCW premium is a paid group.

So the whole discussion on this SIP here lies on whether we should give BCW privilege to make Day 1 sale exclusive to them or not?

Ok, then this might bring up some thoughts of unfairness or richer getting richer or centralization of the community? Whether it’s unfair or rich gets richer or community centralization or whatever you might come up with, why do not we just focus on benefits of FISH community as a whole for long-term?

Do you really think it really matters in a long run to give privilege to BCW for DAY1 sale ?

The fact that the sovryn community could not participate in the first sale day of a token in their own platform…would honestly be a joke!

Nope in the long run it doesn’t matter.Ever if the price of the sale in the first and second day is the same…it is just not right! It is a joke.

Tough to judge when the premium group is closed. Wish I was allowed to learn more.

But why is that? If they want to sell to any group as you said then we can benefit of having this sale happening on Sovryn rather then somewhere else.

Sale privately with BCW where? In sushiswap???

Like fei?Like delta? We all see how theese projects go and how sovryn goes!!!
