The difference is you can choose to opt in or out of Sovryn and staking. We cannot opt into BCW Premium no matter what. It’s restricted and closed, unless my understanding is incorrect?
@Yago should express his thoughts about all that is discussed.Imean he is the inspiration for many of us and his opinion counts.
I’m not following your argument here. Do you need to have the option to opt-in on every company/group/fund that invests in a project? As I see it, Sovryn only has one “right” and that is to choose to launch babelFish on its platform or not. How babelFish finance their project should not have anything with SOV stakers / BCW members to do except that they are chosen to be part of this pre sale by BabelFish
Rewarding SOV stakers with a small FISH % after sales maybe is something that FISH team can discuss if it is possible. Obviously, they need to consider tokenomics factors and how their project is going to grow.
Speaking about FISH team, they have the right to choose any partnership they want and plan any strategy they want. I do not understand why they should be judged for their choices regarding the sale strategy. If they believe that it is in the best interest of THEIR project to have a BCW Sale we do not have the right to judge them, BUT we can make suggestions to improve DAY TWO Sales part to be as inclusive as possible because SOVRYN stakers/liquidity providers/simple folks who are holding the coin should NOT miss out.
When the official SIP is out with the improvements, all of you are going to vote. If your voting criteria is only why FISH team would like to have exclusive BCW Sale then in my opinion you are missing the point, and the point is everyone will have the opportunity to participate in the sales with the price to be similar. But the most important point, in my opinion is, to see a successful launch of another project on SOVRYN platform. THIS is going to be a game changer for the whole SOVRYN community.
My 2 SOV
I apologize if it comes off as judgmental. I don’t think that’s anyone’s intent.
We simply want to make sure SOV stakers understand what they’re voting on.
This draft as-is could set a precedent where Sovryn stakers effectively subordinate themselves to outsiders who were willing to buy there way in to an exclusive club. Like what’s the point of the Bitocracy if a paid group can do that.
Alternatively — BCW involvement could offer pros that far outweigh the cons and the details of priority are negligible. I understand there are benefits to this.
Regardless, I’m just trying to show the precedent were setting in the early stages.

I see here too much focus on irrelevant things and BCW.
Is it relevant for SOVRYN community and all other people involved in crypto, who the BabelFish has choosen for initial supporters - except for situation if that were Whales or people interested in short term play?
In my eyes BCW has proven their quality. I would get suspicious if all of a sudden BCW Premium doors would be widely open. I could think, that it is focused only on gains then. It looks like quality over quantity.
This discussion is about DRAFT SIP for BabelFish launch on SOV. The fact that we are allowed to discuss it, and BabelFish team informs everyone about their plans - is great. They want our feedback to make a conclusive SIP to be voted by SOVRYN community. This compromise - as every single one - will never satisfy everyone. Some people will be unhapy - not matter what the majority will decide.
BabelFish with its idea will be a very good way to help with expanding SOV. Both sides have mutual interest in cooperation. BabelFish in my opinion fits in SOVRYN perfectly (and vice versa), as both provide to each other new quality and sollutions.
I am very thankful to the BabelFish Team that they started this discussion about this draft proposal. Who does that? In most cases when a team comes to a launchpad - they have ready idea for allocations and etc. It is not negotiable, it is just annouced. Occasionaly if there are any negotiations - they take place behind the curtains.
This is very rare occasion when two communities are merging together on building new very needed sollutions for DeFi. But I still belive that SOV should not too much interefere into BabelFish, as FISH should not interfere too much into SOVRYN. They are still independent projects - and we should keep this in mind.
Hello everyone,
First of all, I hope you are having a great day.
Regarding the “discussion” about the allocation of Day 1 to BCW Premium members, I only see it as a way to secure the project, and a form of recognition to all the work and help that BCW premium members provided to SOV / FISH teams.
BCW premium members did not drop the price of SOV, on the contrary, and we all benefit from this. And SOV is getting bigger and stronger thanks to them.
By making this allocation (and by the way, we talk about less than 10% for DAY 1 + DAY 2…), it secures Babelfish project.
To be completely honest, in order to make the project safer and stronger, I would suggest a bigger allocation for these BCW members. All people complaining only focuses on price, because the price of FISH is their only interest. And we don’t want these people in this great project, even less at early stages.
Best regards,
A.
Hi guys,
So the SIP for Babel Fish is something that I dont understand.
They want to use Sovryn to effectively incentivise a paid group to participate in the first round. I think the way Sovryn has been set up with its inherent qualities and focus on decentralisation, this goes against the ethos of the fundamentals and would only hurt the platform.
Sovryn should not be used to give a leg up to paid groups rather should incentivise the people who are actually invested in the project from day 1.
Looking at examples of successful Blockchain projects, never have I seen such a proposal to incentivise paid group members over people who are actually invested in the platform. This hurts our progress and reputation.
I hope they change the SIP to reflect this and make Sovryn a platform for any new project that wants to launch on it to first and foremost incentivise investors in the inherent value of the platform.
Good day everybody
First of all I would like to congratulate the SOVRYN team to the fantastic roll-out of the project so far.
In regards to the discussion on BCW pre-sale participation I would like to give my stand.
BCW has added a great value to this project. They are supporting the project and price since the beginning and will forever. BCW is an experienced group, which you can see alone in the Telegram channel. There are no annoying Gif partys and wen moon questions all the time, which adds to the quality of this project as it wants to become a respected project.
In terms of exclusive pre-sale, I believe this should be honored in terms of the first pre-sale going to BCW. But if this project becomes too tending towards BCW it will hurt the project, so I think the second pre-sale should be open to 1. BCW, 2. SOV stakers and - very importantly - 3. Liquidity providers!
I really like the form of discussions on SIPs, it feels very grown up and differentiates this project from nearly everything else in the crypto-sphere.
Excited about what is to come and a warm thank you to everybody.
Just some background on me, I’ve been following the blockchain whispers free channel for years and always found D Man very honest and loyal. He has a huge loyal community that would be nothing but positive to have backing a project. I was lucky enough to finally join premium before even learning about BabelFish and absolutely love the project but I will admit I’m a bit biased.
With that out of the way, I honestly do not get the backlash against Blockchain Whisper getting the first round. Pretty much every project has VCs get in early and most people have no issues with it. The big difference here is the BCW has a track record for both promoting projects and HOLDING unlike many VCs that just use the public sales as dumping grounds. They were one of the first to invest in Sovryn (way before my time) and you can see their involvement has been nothing but good for them.
In the true spirit of decentralisation limiting day one sales to a premium signals group would never have been floated as an idea in the first place.
100% - the genuine supporters are those staking / liquidity mining SOV, regardless of group memebership or not.
Bravo chainedwolf!!! I´m a SOV staker myself and I don´t feel entitle to any rights or privileges over BabelFish. It´s a completely separate project than SOV.
If we focus on what matters, this is the way I see it:
- As you stated. SOV is launching their first project in their platform. HUGE!
- BCW I´ve known for being a strong investing and holding community ,in this case GREAT for SOV and GREAT for BabelFish.
What´s not to like?
Regards
Love this proposition, seems quite fair to me and really reinforces the Sovryn community spirit
Sov-stakers an edge over the liquidity providers, because stakers are there for a fixed period and liquidity providers can pull out and put there money elsewhere whenever they want.
Liquidity providers (LPs) most likely can’t withdraw early otherwise they will encounter impermanent loss, especially the early LPs, so in another way, they are also tied in for the long haul as they will have to wait for rewards to cover their costs of investment too…
Hi All, ok, so firstly, let me state that I am a member of BCW Premium and have been a follower of BCW since 2017. After having read through all the comments, here are some points to ponder on:
BCW is a discoverable group, somethings you find in life, other things you don’t and I guess the harder you look for things / entities that can add value to your situation, the more you will find. Apologies to those of you who have never heard of BCW, but at least now you have and should be something that should be considered as part of your arsenal for most likely being successful as you navigate the unregulated world of crypto.
Complaining about BCW getting exclusive access to Babelfish on day 1 I think is an immature approach. A strong committed community with a great track record needs to be behind a project for a project to be believed in by a wider audience beyond the BCW and SOV communities. The SOV community will be seen as a biased invested community towards the Babelfish project for obvious reasons where as BCW will be seen as an unbiased invested community by outsiders. I think this is very important for a wider reach audience for a sense of credibility for the Babelfish project.
I think strategically BabelFish are doing the right thing as credibility is vital for a project and a USD 0.02 premium on a token cost of 2.7% of the tokens is a small price to pay for credibility compared to the second day.
For those of you that don’t know, BCW Premium is there with a fee for a few things:
Its a natural filter
Resources need to be paid for - they don’t come free, and BCW Premium has plenty
BCW Premium has earned its stripes
BCW Premium contributes value in many aspects within the crypto world
BCW Premium has a wealth of knowledge within its brotherhood like no other
BCW Premium discovers, invests and builds when it comes to projects (yes, some of us trade as well, but that is not the core reason for the group)
Now that we have that out the way, I think there are a lot more important items within the SIP that need more deserved attention and for this I will leave it up to the experts within the BCW Premium & SOV communities to comment on as this is not my forte.
Not everybody will be satisfied with the outcome, but that is democracy at its best. We all want the same thing at the end of the day, success, and I am quite sure that the greater involved and vested community will debate, amend and vote accordingly to achieve what is best for the BABELFISH project.
STAY SOVRYN & BLOCKCHAIN WHISPERS BABY!!
thank you
Just read the SIP - looks fantastic and well constructed. Anything that is aligned with the Goals of the SOV mission makes me an instant believer. Lets goooooo
PS - Lets hope the next project is NFT based as the SOV & Community art is amazing.
Not that I want to conflict with anyone but:
- BCW stopped accepting new members for the last couple of weeks.
- Here definitely not the place to discuss that we as BCW are not a pump and bump group, as vested/staked SOVs prove it.
- Also vested FISH for 12 months provide the fair reasoning of not dumping.
- It’s a very different argument that “one takes many” than “many take some” as we are, really, a lot of people with our free will and DYOR on every project.
Stay Sovryn and wish best of luck in BabelFish
Wow, can you imagine going through this discussion every time a project wants to launch on sovryn? Oh I’m greedy, oh I’m jealous… babelfish was trying to be as transparent as possible with everyone when submitting their SIP, it’s their choice they don’t have to launch here. Whatever deal they made is theirs. We should consider ourselves lucky to even get a chance. Next time I’d suggest a closed door sale 1, end of discussion!
