Drafting a SIP for BabelFish

I think it’s more than fair to reward support and loyalty. Both day 1 : as BCW believes in and supports SOV from the beginning, as day 2 : for those who stake SOV. And the last is possible for everyone.

When I read through the 180 plus comments and try to understand the concerns, it seems like it’s not about the project itself, and more about how people are upset they don’t get to be a part of the sale on day one and that BCW members do. I am a proud member of BCW and I can tell you that if D Man secured us a day 2 presale spot, you wouldn’t have 100 comments about how we weren’t first in line BECAUSE, we would be thankful for that opportunity. The fact that WE ARE all here on this chat right now means that we are early and in an AMAZING position to be a integral part of BabelFish. I think our united BCW group has earned the spot to be a strong foundational contribution to BabelFish and I am sure many that read this feel the same way regarding their contributions in some way and these 2 view points end up negating each other. So then the real opinion that matters and should be respected is that of the BabelFish team. All of us supporters, investors, and believers in this project need to respect what the BabelFish team thinks is best for the launch of THEIR TOKEN and gives it the best foundation. BCW is united and will do everything in our power to support this project and keep our hands Diamond. This is good for us all and I know everyone here will get their allocation. Let’s put our FOCUS into how the help the project and NOT who gets BabelFish first.

This thread is filled with nonsense regarding a bunch of “groups” I dont have time to think or care about. I want to know actual things regarding sovryn as a platform.

What are you actually asking/receiving from the sovryn team?

Where is the Babelfish whitepaper?

Is this Babelfish - A decentralized payment processor for the multi-zone ecosystem related to your project?

The concepts you have outlined are interesting but they are just that from first look, concepts. Where is the actual information about what you are trying to get the platform involved in? Have a github?

Great SIP, i’m all for it. BCW will support BabelFish, just as it did and does for Sovryn. We’ve seen it work, so I think it’s a great choice from the BabelFish team.

BabelFish team - pls review and submit your revised SIP.

Looks like it is time for us to vote.

I have no problem with BCW getting their own round as long as there will be equal opportunity for other parties. Its more like diversifiing risk. BCW acts as a single entity as they blindly ape in and out everything following single man orders.

I don’t know what they did for Sovryn aside of aping in and waiting for single person to tell them when to sell. I have no problem with that but we should not act as they build SOV themselves.

Lets first round be theirs. That’s OK. But they should be excluded from the second round otherwise whole BabelFish will be in hands of single ape minded entity and possibly could face simmilar attacks as they did to Delta.Financial last week.

is there a timeline for the SIP / Voting?

“But if staking SOV is not enough to access the best project in the platform, the value of holding SOV drops substantially.”

Then my question to you is, what is your motive behind staking SOV in the first place? Aren’t we all here to protect the integrity of the entire SOV ecosystem? The value of staking SOV is in SOV itself, a new project like FISH needs to bring in its own supporters to the system, so that it does not solely rely on SOV to grow. Bringing in new funds is always better for the ecosystem.

Hi, your argument is difficult to follow. How is Sovryn being used to incentivise a paid group?

In any case, the priority should be for BabelFish to secure sufficient funding to kickstart their project. No funds = no project = no tokens for you and I. Sovryn does not benefit. If BCW is so strong, and I trust wolverine to have done his due diligence on the group, so I am supportive of the team’s decision to do what is best to get the project out.

Hi, I have a few questions regarding FISH:

  1. Will it be necessary to hold/burn FISH to make use of BabelFish services?
  2. If not, what happens when we reach the full 420.000.000 distribution? The FISH rewards obtained when converting stablecoins just stop, or something else happens? I have read the SIP but I have not understood this point.
  3. Just to make sure, FISH distribution will be 1:1 with stablecoins exchanged, or instead allocated in proportion from a daily/weekly/monthly budget?

Thank you for your time.

@CookieMonster I already stated my opinion in several posts on that matter

Having read the above comments, I couldn’t be more eager to discover Bablefish, and to discover the testnet. As a Sovryn Citizen I will feel more complete with BableFish.

The value of Bablefish is as much above the speculative play of FISH as the value of Sovryn is above that of SOV.

I am not going to judge the role of day 1 investors. I have my opinion but I respect what you decide.

Discussions about whether there are first or second investors obscure the value of the main proposition. I propose to reduce the noise about who is a better day 2 investor. Many of these discussions occur because there are sov holders who are worried about not fulfilling the conditions. Some chose to use their Sov for liquidity tanks, or are short-term traders. Let’s give them the opportunity to demonstrate their engagement to Sovryn. I propose some alternatives:

a) Set the (future) SIP date (I imagine it will be close) as the deadline to have made a stake. This would give them time to demonstrate their commitment. Everyone would already know the rules…

b) Set a date after the SIP. Why? To allow time for further involvement with Sovryn. Power voting targets, or ranges of amounts and dates would be indicated.

In this way we discover the real interest of each other, adding present and future value.

Agree with this 100%

Hey team,

Firstly, Babelfish sounds an excellent fit for anyone who believes in Sovryn and RSK.

I don’t think fellow investors need to worry about who else is investing if they primarily believe in the project and that the value will increase. I am pleased for anyone who makes money in crypto. There’s room for everyone and there are enough excellent projects to go around.

If you think Babelfish is worth it, invest in it - whether it’s day 1, 2 or anytime thereafter. I didn’t get into Sovryn on day 1, but I have subsequently been really pleased the way it’s performing  and the fact influential people (e.g. Pomp) have realised it’s value.

It’s usually VC’s and privileged money that makes money - accessibility of the crypto universe makes it available to anyone willing to put some hard work into finding these gems.

Thanks,
Dc

Hey @wolverine, congrats to your project. May I ask you one favor to lead me to a whitepaper or simple presentation rather than clicking on 4 sites on https://babelfish.money/?

Babelfish are looking to launch the FISH token via the Sovryn Origins Launchpad. Due to the fact that they are members of the BCW community, and are receiving a great deal of support from BCW their SIP proposes to have a limited-access sale which would be exclusive to BCW members. I really like the BCW crew and there is a lot of overlap of our communities - so I personally would be happy for the limited sale to be organized in this way. Sovryn is a permissionless Financial OS, and people must be free to use the OS however they want.

That said, Sovryn has a phenomenal community and the Sovryn platform is key to Babelfish plans. Among other things, Sovryn devs have provided assistance to Babelfish and the Circle of Light are integrating BabelFish directly into sovryn.app. I think it would be to everyone’s benefit to link the SOV stakers and bebelFish governance with aligned incentives.

So I would like to suggest the following - If Babelfish will perform the limited-sale exclusively to BCW, as described in the SIP:

  1. Funds from this round can be used to purchase SOV and staked in Bitcocracy, as I have heard described by Dark Knight.
  2. Additionally, and here is what I am adding, a certain percentage of FISH tokens (let’s say 1%) will be air-dropped to SOV Bitocracy stakers, with the same vesting terms as the BCW limited sale.
  3. The airdrop would be provided to SOV stakers who have staked since the Genesis and Origins unlock - on the basis of their vote weight. In other words, the more you have staked, and the longer you have staked for, the more FISH tokens you would receive.
  4. I have spoken with the Sovryn Exchequer and proposed that Sovryn also contribute to this by providing a Staking incentive in SOV. Broadly speaking, it seems that the exchequer is in favor, although nothing has come to vote yet.

Not only does this tie the incentives of Babel and Sovryn, it also helps grow the Babel community, and strengthen the voice of the Sovryn community in Babel.

Thoughts?

Hi, i see that a lot of time its mentioned “BCW” in the comments and in the SIP document. What is BCW, i have never heard about it? Who can i become a BCW member?

We have read the wave of constructive feedback received thus far for BabelFish’s draft SIP on the doc, on this forum and on babelfish’s discord. This collective effort can seem chaotic to some, but we see decentralised governance and creativity at work. We believe the main points have been expressed as it relates to BabelFish’s governance objectives and properly rewarding the Sovryn community as participants. Expect a final version that takes into consideration all this combined input so we can proceed with a vote. Thanks ∞ !

That is up to an individual Token Offerer to decide if they want to incentivize SOV holders imho.
